Importing Content
WebSync supports multiple import modes depending on what you need to bring into NotebookLM. The two core modes are single-page capture and site crawling, with additional options for multiple links and YouTube.
Capture a single page
Section titled “Capture a single page”Use this mode when you want to save the page you are currently viewing.
How it works:
- Open the WebSync extension and choose “Import current page.”
- WebSync captures the page content and metadata from that tab.
- The page is sent to NotebookLM as a single source.
When to choose this:
- You only need one page or article.
- You want fast, manual control over exactly what gets imported.

Crawl a website
Section titled “Crawl a website”Use this mode when you want WebSync to discover and import pages from a site automatically.
How it works:
- Provide a starting URL and optional crawl settings.
- WebSync follows internal links and imports pages that match the crawl rules.
- Results are grouped into a NotebookLM source set.
When to choose this:
- You need an entire site or section (docs, blogs, knowledge bases).
- You want coverage without collecting links manually.

Note: For more advanced discovery rules, see Smart Crawling.
Capture from multiple links
Section titled “Capture from multiple links”Use this mode when you have a curated list of URLs to import in one run.
How it works:
- Paste or select a list of URLs.
- WebSync imports each link as its own source, skipping duplicates.
When to choose this:
- You have a hand-picked reading list.
- You want to import across multiple domains without crawling.

Section titled “Import from YouTube”Use this mode when you want transcripts and metadata from videos.
How it works:

- WebSync collects transcripts and basic metadata for each item.
When to choose this:
- You want video sources alongside written content.
- You need a playlist captured as a structured set of sources.
